Hawaii After D ark
Our Passion
Food
Drink
Friendship

Well, folks, we did it.  11-2-2022

We finally came out of the “Pandemic” Hibernation mode and held our first Meetup at Michael Mina’s Stripsteak.

There was a lot of trepidation in doing this after an over two-year hiatus. However, it worked out very well, enough so that we will gear up more soon.

Right now, we are like a butterfly coming out of a cocoon and stretching its wings (Or a Bear out of Hibernation, your choice of the phrases).

During all the political turmoil before the Pandemic, and because of the militancy of certain associated with some of these groups (#Resist, etc.), we took the group from Public to Private to shield everyone from the drama attributed to those groups (Remember our group is No Drama, No Politics, etc.) We are now in discussion about bringing it back to a public group. We are also still using the Facebook group, even though Meetup is our main organizing location. We also will be working on the Hawaii After Dark Web page in the next few months.

My Debra Jo and I will start to approach different venues and see who can handle our group.

It may be only once a month and a limited number of RSVPs for a little while, but we are going to take this one step at a time.

We are open to suggestions as long as they can meet our criteria. (Separate Checks, Happy Hour prices, etc.)

So please have a little patience with us and remember this group was designed with the following in mind:

Life is what we decide to make it . Our Hump Day Socials are always casual and enjoyable. I cannot think of a better way to live it than to gather to enjoy each other’s company in a casual environment.

Good people, good food, and good grog.

Our objective is to create an atmosphere similar to having friends over ~ hanging out & relaxing.

So - don’t be shy... come join us for a mid-week evening to unwind with fabulous food, drinks, and friendly company.

You will not find a better local group who will welcome you as if you were a long-lost friend - sharing bad jokes and enjoying each other’s company.

The choice is yours  ~ you won’t know what you are missing if you don’t get out once in a while to meet new people with no strings, no stress, and no expectations...
No networking
No pick-ups
No strangers ...just new friends you are about to meet.
We are a No Drama Zone!
No Covid-19 or Vaccination questioning & No political agendas, please!

Debra Jo and Ron Skates

What we're about
Hawaii After Dark has been meeting for over 14 years.

In January 2012 - we opened up the group by posting on Meetup.com. We also are on Facebook as well as a Private members email list.

This is an open group - it is for anyone that wants to meet new people. We are  group that is about being low-key... no pretentious attitude or political agendas allowed. You don't need to know anybody. A diverse group ~ making new friends ~ socializing ~ getting together to unwind.

Our mid-week socials are primarily on Wednesday ~ Hump Day ~ we frequent local restaurants, wine bars, and gastro pubs for pupus and refreshments/cocktails during the "Happy Hour."

Hawaii After Dark loves to support and promote several community service events like the Make-A-Wish Hawaii FUNraising event throughout the year.

Our events start at 5:00 pm or when you get there and ends when you leave. If you are new - track down the hosts, and we'll be sure to introduce you to a handful of people. Invite friends; if they cannot come at the same time ~ tell them to ask for Ron or Debra Jo, and we will introduce them around as well.

Admission: None - buy your own drinks and pupus.

No pressure ~ no worries & wallflowers are always welcome!
